The programming of the PLC can be done completely via the screen workstation of the system or by remote maintenance. GEDIS uses robust, intelligent hardware of its own development and production, with separate power supply 24VDC, control processor (Power PC), modules for digital/analogue inputs and outputs, RS232/422/485 interfaces, as well as the worldwide proven, robust and real-time capable CAN bus system.
Due to the modular design, the PLC can be adapted and extended to all requirements of the existing system technology at any time. In case of need, a fast exchange of components is possible (MTTR = less than 15min). The PLC is fully functional in its operation, even without a process control computer system, and therefore always in a safe operating state. The PLC monitors itself continuously. Even widely spaced systems can be controlled easily with this from a workstation.
This workstation is equipped with a high performance IPC system (MX1). This control computer, which is specially adapted to the general conditions prevailing in the industry, is designed with a hardware configuration ideal for your area of application. The hardware enables safe and stable 24/7 operation, which also allows you to work in shifts in a rough industrial environment. Our innovative hardware also allows equipping a workstation with a specially developed industrial PC “Tank 870”. Accordingly, 6 screens can be operated with a single control computer. In this way interfaces to other systems can be simply and clearly visualised.
GEDIS is proud to present the GC3 PLC, its third-generation PLC developed in-house and designed for reliability, flexibility, and innovation in process automation. The GC3 is based on many years of experience and offers solutions to modern challenges such as material bottlenecks, service efficiency, and system compatibility.
The PLC features a compact, daisy-chain-capable design, full CAN bus upward and downward compatibility, optimized error monitoring, and plug-and-play connections. It can directly switch 250 V/2 A, reducing the need for additional relays, and supports numerous interfaces, including Modbus, EtherCAT, 0/4–20 mA, 0–10 V, PT-100, RS485, and RS232. An analog-to-digital converter module (2025), coming soon, will enable precise dosing and improved error analysis for weighing systems, further reducing costs and downtime.

The past 30 years have shown us how important it is to develop innovative technologies in-house. Especially in times of uncertain supply chains from Asia – s we experienced during the pandemic – we have learned that in-house development, warehousing, and production can contribute to an unbeatable overall strategy. At a time when major PLC manufacturers were struggling with supply bottlenecks, the company was able to produce, install, and deliver replacement parts without a single day of downtime due to potential material shortages, thereby keeping customers satisfied as usual. This fact, combined with our unwavering confidence in our products, has motivated us to redesign the product, retain proven features, and leverage our innovative strength to create new possibilities in process automation. Guided by this vision, we have developed our GC3 PLC over the past few years.
Inspired by existing systems and customer requirements, we have redesigned the layout to allow for side-by-side installation. This frees up space in the control cabinet and establishes a standard for machine builders – making integration with manufacturers’ existing power modules easier and more cost-effective for the customer. Another important feature is the upward and downward compatibility of our CAN bus system. Existing systems can be expanded with the new generation of PLCs, and existing components can continue to be used. The new PLC features optimized fault monitoring and has a fully modular design. This significantly improves service quality, enabling a rapid response in collaboration with on-site personnel in the event of a malfunction and minimizing downtime. The GC3 PLC can directly switch 250 VAC/2 A, eliminating the need for additional relay units when retrofitting existing systems. In addition, the product features the following interfaces: Modbus, EtherCAT, 0/4–20 mA, 0–10 V, PT-100, RS-485, and RS-232, enabling real-time acquisition and processing of all necessary sensor data from the mixing process. In addition, in 2025 we will introduce our analog-to-digital converter module for direct connection to weighing systems. This innovative module enables precise dosing and reduces costs by eliminating the need for expensive measurement technology.
The IBS33W control system, which is connected to a PLC to control the plant, must be operated in close proximity to the plant, in part due to the requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. As a system integrator, GEDIS uses a high-performance, certified safety system featuring a safety PLC (from SICK and Wieland) featuring safety function modules, a key transfer system, a magnetic interlock, or a FlexLock system, as well as safety modules for mixers and safety doors, and a two-hand local control for the mixer in accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC for the operation and cleaning of the mixing system. Machines that are equipped or retrofitted with this technical innovation for workplace safety are safer. The risk of accidents is minimized, and operation is simplified.
As a system integrator, GEDIS uses a high-performance, certified safety system for the operation and cleaning of the mixing plant, featuring a SICK safety PLC with safety function blocks, a key transfer system with magnetic locking pins and a SICK FlexLock locking unit, as well as safety modules for mixers and safety doors. The system is supplemented by a two-hand control for the mixer on-site in accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

Our control and power supply units are designed and manufactured in-house. We use standardized, high-quality components and comply with all relevant standards and guidelines, including the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, VDE regulations, and CE requirements.
Each control cabinet features integrated safety functions as well as overcurrent and undervoltage protection and is optimally designed for the specific application. To ensure maximum energy efficiency and system availability, appropriate motor starting methods – such as direct start, star-delta start, soft start, or frequency converters– are used depending on the application.
